For many kids, summer is a time of sunshine, friendship, and adventure. But for too many families in Sonoma Valley, it can also be a time of stress and uncertainty. And this year, the need is greater than ever. We anticipate providing over $75,000 in scholarships to ensure no child is turned away due to financial hardship.
Unfortunately, access to high-quality summer experiences is not universal. Research shows that kids from low-income households often lose two to three months of academic skills each summer, while their peers maintain or even improve. Over time, this “summer slide” adds up, contributing significantly to the achievement gap.
That’s why Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley has launched our Summer Camp Scholarship Campaign: to ensure that every child, regardless of their family’s financial situation, has the chance to engage in summer enrichment.

Why Summer Camp Matters
Summer camp at the Club isn’t just about games and new friendships – though we have plenty of those, too! Our programs are designed to be academically rich and developmentally meaningful, blending fun with learning to prevent summer learning loss and prepare kids for the school year ahead.
When you send a kid to camp, you’re giving them:
- STEM activities that keep young minds engaged
- Sports, health, and wellness education that promote physical activity and resilience
- Social-emotional learning experiences that strengthen teamwork, leadership, and empathy
- Daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and snack) to keep kids fueled and focused
For working families, camp also offers a safe, supportive environment from morning until evening for their kids.

- $350 can provide a full week of camp
- $700 can provide a full week of camp for 2 kids
- $2,600 can provide a full summer of camps
